Elephants challenge us at every step of their care.  Their size and strength alone make building safe, yet esthetically pleasing exhibits, a difficult task.  Their high intelligence and complex social structure means building with flexibility in mind.  Effective elephant exhibits demand animal care specialists who are creative and innovative in their approaches and who can think outside the box when problem solving.

The purpose of the Exhibit Design section is to assist institutions in designing state of the art facilities that support AZA and USDA standards for excellence in elephant care and welfare, and to develop a resource for elephant care specialists that identify the best design and product solutions for elephant care facilities.
